Responsibilities

Role Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer/EHS Specialist will drive lean initiatives, standards, and projects throughout the site with a particular focus on Safety culture and Safety process improvements. Manages projects and is responsible for working with team members at all levels of the organization to establish a customer-based process improvement strategy, which drives safety to help prevent workplace injuries and reduce health risks, customer responsiveness, lead time reduction and quality improvement in line with business/functional objectives

Essential Responsibilities: As a Manufacturing Engineer/EHS Specialist you will:

  • Support early integration of Lean principles in product design & process development for New Product Introductions
  • Drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, lead-time, customer delivery, productivity, inventory and product flow
  • Research and support compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in developing policies, programs, and work instructions aligned with regulations and internal requirements.
  • Coach plant personnel on EHS management system practices.
  • Manage data collection and analysis of EHS metrics, including injury/illness, air, waste, energy, and water.
  • Lead or participate in EHS projects for energy conservation and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor employees in behavior-based safety observations.
  • Participate in job safety analysis and risk assessments.
  • Guide plant teams in developing and executing Lean plans to monitor and increase overall productivity managing multiple value streams, serving as a recognized expert and resource leader for focus areas, process rigor, and delivering significant simplification results
  • Assist in Lean plan execution by leading Action Work Outs (AWOs) developing simple solutions to the elimination of waste, developing pull systems where flow is not possible, training personnel, and other activities to achieve world-class process flow
  • Prepare Lean review presentations and pitch to business leaders on Lean business reviews
  • Be an advocate for change, coach, train and mentor site leadership on the fundamentals and principals of Lean Manufacturing

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or similar discipline from an accredited university or college
  • Recommended 2 years hands - on experience in Lean deployment and driving changes in production shop floor through strategic projects
  • 1-3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing
  • Strong manufacturing safety background.
  • Experience in occupational health and safety or a related field
  • Compliance experience in the industry
  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus
  • Effective communication skills across all plant levels.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.
