Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Facilities Manager will oversee and manage the maintenance, safety, and operational functionality of a manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for ensuring that the facilities meet all regulatory requirements, remain in excellent operational condition, and support the needs of both production and administration. The Facilities Manager will lead a team of maintenance personnel and work closely with other departments to create a safe, efficient, and cost-effective working environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facility Maintenance & Management:
    • Oversee all facility maintenance activities, ensuring systems, machinery, and infrastructure operate efficiently and effectively.
    • Plan, schedule, and coordinate regular preventative maintenance and facility repairs, minimizing production downtime.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical plant systems.
  2. Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure the plant complies with all OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory standards related to safety and facility management.
    • Develop and implement emergency response and evacuation plans, coordinating fire and safety drills.
    • Conduct regular facility inspections, identify potential hazards, and take corrective action to maintain a safe working environment.
  3. Vendor & Contractor Management:
    • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee outsourced work for facility services, including janitorial, landscaping, and specialized equipment repair.
    • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors to ensure high-quality and cost-effective service delivery.
  4. Budgeting & Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage the facilities maintenance budget, tracking expenses and ensuring cost efficiency.
    • Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce operational costs and enhance sustainability.
  5. Team Leadership:
    • Lead, train, and develop a team of facility technicians and support staff.
    • Set performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, and ensure team members are compliant with all health and safety protocols.
  6. Project Management:
    • Oversee and manage facility upgrade and expansion projects, from initial planning through execution, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support plant layout changes and the installation of new equipment.
  7. Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, permits, and regulatory compliance documentation.
    • Generate reports on facility operations, energy usage, and maintenance costs for management review.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of facilities management experience, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and facility management best practices.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, such as OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Experience with budgeting, vendor management, and team leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in facilities management software and MS Office Suite. Knowledge of CMMS is a plus.
