Responsibilities

Overview: This position will be responsible for the continuous alignment of available resources (i.e. team members, materials, and machines) to the production gaps enabling the shift to maintain productivity. The Gap Leader is accountable for the production scheduled to be completed on time, with all Safety, Quality, and Engineering process parameters achieved while developing their teams and promoting their growth

 

Responsibilities:

  • Understand, support, and distribute the plant’s direction and goals within World Class Manufacturing through the application of the lean tools such as 5S, TPM, Six Sigma, Setup Reduction and Idemia’s 7 Quality Basics.
  • Provide preventative and corrective actions to ensure safe working conditions are maintained and upheld by all employees
  • Effectively escalate any issues involving staffing, machine operations, and production material to the shift Supervisor to uphold production objectives and goals.
  • Communicate efficiently with other shift team Leaders during Shift Changeover to ensure continuation of production objectives
  • Participate actively with support departments in various problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action applications as well as coach GAP members to do the same.
  • Support the production Supervisor to ensure all employees are adequately cross-trained in various areas of production in order maximize their value to the team and provide staffing coverage.
  • Support output objectives by promoting collaborative and autonomous decision-making to facilitate the team’s self-directed improvements.
  • Ensure the daily activities of the production lines align with the shift Supervisor’s direction by directing GAP members.
  • Ensure standards are being followed by GAP members in regards to Standard Work, FPR, OEE, etc.
  • Accurately and actively report the status of the GAP area’s production lines to support the shift Supervisor with the daily production objectives and goals.
  • Effectively communicate with shift Supervisor in order to appropriately support production objectives.
  • Update team leader board and keep track of KPIs, and create an action plan and escalate to immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Standard Work by actively auditing it and encourage GAP members to do the same.
  • Promote continuous improvement through the use of QRCIs and the Ideation Board to GAP members.
  • Support operators in changeovers activities
  • Run machines and cover for operators in PTO and per management request
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a leadership role supervising others
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Effective listening, coaching, and team building skills
  • Machine troubleshooting skills
  • Analytical thinking and decision-making capabilities
  • Able to complete Supervisor’s tasks in their absence
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Resourceful and takes initiative
  • No prior attendance or performance issues on record
