Responsibilities

IDEMIA, the global leaders in ID & Payment Card manufacturing, located in Exton, PA - is looking to add a 2nd shift Production Supervisor to our production operations leadership team to help manage and oversee the day-to-day manufacturing of our plastic financial & identification card product lines

 

Overview: This position will be responsible for the management of shift activities of production teams.  Review team assignments in the form of objectives with goals and determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.  Direct the short- and long-term activities of the production lines to meet company objectives and goals around Lean line concepts continually meeting customer demands.  Provide an environment of continuous improvement to production processes that result in advances in quality, yield, productivity and lower costs.  Support Production employees in continual improvement by acting as a resource in applying and ultimately teaching problem solving skills and meeting facilitation skills. Supervise and coordinate all activities of production workers in the card production process. Ensure all safety and quality standards are followed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand, embrace and disseminate the plant’s direction and goals in World Class Manufacturing through the application of lean tools such as 5S, TPM, Six Sigma and Setup Reduction.
  • Manage the Production employees according to company policies including attendance, e-time, security, safety, corrective action, performance appraisals, etc. (approximately 20 to 25 employees)
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Schedule and coordinate flow of work within and between production cells.
  • Understand and monitor production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets quality standards to workers and enforces compliance.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates and suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Enforce company policies and values.
  • Performs weekly inventory on shop floor.
  • Act as a resource and trainer in the application of various problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective action skills.
  • Support Lean lines in collaborative, autonomous decision making to facilitate the team’s self-directed improvements.
  • Support the daily activities of the production lines according to the team’s production schedule and apply the necessary adjustments when needed according to current issues.
  • Collect and report to the production lines the status of the lines regarding customer satisfaction, company objectives or goals, process quality data and equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with Production manager and Director of Operations on production goal setting.
  • Support the production team’s daily activities in accordance to our defined ISO procedures and modify these procedures based on process improvement made by the production teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of practical experience in lead or supervisory role managing production processes and hourly employees.
  • Associates Degree is preferred
  • Experience with plastic substrates (printing, lamination, mechanical punch equipment)
  • 1 year + of Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Experience with ERP system
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to distinguish card defects (card body, modules and graphics)
  • Ability to read and comprehend and write instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
