Responsibilities

The Vice President of Engineering Operations will serve as a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving organizational agility, operational excellence, and engineering program execution across the enterprise. This role will lead agile transformation initiatives, establish and manage executive reporting frameworks, and foster continuous improvement across engineering processes. The VP of Engineering Operations will also build and lead a high-performing team, including scrum masters and solution architects, ensuring alignment with business goals and delivery milestones.

 

Key Responsibilities

🚀 Agile Transformation & Execution

  • Champion enterprise-wide agile best practices, tooling, and culture
  • Lead agile scaling efforts and coach teams through organizational change
  • Establish governance models that balance autonomy with standardization

📊 Metrics, KPIs & Executive Reporting

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and metrics that provide transparency into delivery, quality, and performance
  • Deliver actionable insights through concise executive reporting
  • Drive data-informed decisions across engineering and product functions

📅 Engineering Technical Project Management

  • Oversee strategic cross-functional initiatives and engineering programs
  • Ensure timely delivery, stakeholder alignment, and budget adherence
  • Partner with Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize and sequence work effectively
  • Resource management for programs and deliveries – own the resource charts and report on utilization across the CTO organization
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with engineering operations and projects

🔧 Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with scrum masters and architects to evolve engineering processes
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement frameworks that enhance team velocity and quality
  • Lead initiatives around tool selection, software development lifecycle optimization, and knowledge sharing

👥 Leadership & Team Development

  • Inspire, grow, and mentor a distributed team of agile and technical professionals
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and innovation
  • Attract top talent and scale team capabilities in alignment with business needs

Qualifications

  • 20+ years in engineering or technical operations leadership roles
  • Proven success leading agile deliveries at scale
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps principles
  • Strong business acumen, to include experience developing and managing departmental budgets
  • Excellent communication, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to understand and drive mission objectives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
