Responsibilities

The Proposal Writer is responsible for writing and editing proposal sections (non-technical and technical) in response to solicitations from local, state, and federal government agencies. Under the direction of the proposal manager, the proposal writer is responsible for reviewing solicitation documents and guiding the template development process. The writer participates during planning sessions to fully understand customer requirements and how to best position the proposal response. They must be able to successfully work cross-functionally and collaborate with technical and subject matter experts to develop winning, targeted, responsive content from outlines through final text. This person will author, proofread, and edit proposal content. They check color team drafts for consistency, clarity, and persuasiveness of the material. The desired outcome is development of compliant proposal responses that are compelling, concise, and compliant that earn the highest possible evaluation scores.

 

The preferred candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to successfully manage all facets of the proposal process including aggressive deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to work both as a team member and independently in order to meet deadline-driven schedules in a fast-paced environment. Extra effort during nights and weekends may be required to meet deadlines.

 

Responsibilities

  • Write content that is compelling and compliant
  • Review solicitations and create working document with annotated outline
  • Work with technical and subject matter experts to generate responses that meet or exceed solicitation requirements
  • Prepare documents for review teams
  • Participate in review debriefs and revise text according to the recovery plan
  • Work with graphics professionals to develop templates, standard process flowcharts, diagrams, and other graphics needed for proposals
  • Achieve compliance and integration with themes by using industry best practice tools and methodologies
  • Present written material in ways that are easy to understand and evaluate
  • Achieve compliance through integrating win themes, discriminators, proof points, and applying industry best practices
  • Manage document versioning and control
  • Review and maintain resume materials

Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Highly orgnized with demonstrated ability to recognize and comply with customer requirements
  • Experience writing and editing proposal content that is compelling and compliant with RFP requirements
  • Familiarity with standard IT terminology sufficient for comprehending and creating/editing technical content
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, standard solicitation instructions, and proposal development methods
  • Experience supporting competitive proposal efforts
  • Strong proofreading and editorial skills with high attention to detail
  • Able to support multiple responsibilities/proposals at once
  • Experience working with virtual teams
  • Expert level skills in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Able to collaborate and work in a team environment

 

Desired

  • Experience with SharePoint and Qvidian
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, journalism, communications or technical writing preferred
  • Five+ years of proposal writing experience

 

The US base salary range for this position is $64,890 - $81,120 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the compensation target for the role across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
